RYAN AEROSPACE showcases a new mixed-reality helicopter simulator this week at Rotortech (Gold Coast, 6-8 May 2026).

Their simulator unit runs on X-Plane / Laminar Research as the host, and with VSKYLABS flight model providing the core flight physics and cockpit virtual-visual elements.

It uses the Varjo XR-4 mixed reality headset, which means that the pilot can see own real hands, real controls, and real seat, while the cockpit surroundings and out-the-window view are all virtual.

Additional capability includes vertical reference (long-line) operations feature (via Intersim Helso) where the pilot can lean your head out the door and actually see and feel the load swinging underneath. Really impressive stuff!

The VSKYLABS Robinson R44 is one of our most detailed projects, built from the ground up for X-Plane, with a flight model that prioritizes real-world fidelity. If you want to try the same model that's running inside the Ryan Aerospace simulator, you know where to find it.

RYAN AEROSPACE is a pioneer in the field of virtual and mixed reality simulators, having already delivered many hundreds of devices to the US Air Force, US Army and US Navy to name just a few.
